Manchester to host 2008 track world championships

ZEDDAM, the Netherlands (AFP) -- Manchester was selected Friday by the International Cycling Union (UCI) to host the 2008 Track World Championships.
The northern English city beat the Polish capital Warsaw, whose velodrome has not yet been built.
The Manchester Velodrome hosted the world championships in 1996 and 2000.
The decision was taken at a meeting of UCI officials during the Cyclo-Cross World Championships here.
The Mexican city of Aguascalientes will host the junior world championships in 2007 and Cape Town, South Africa the junior event in 2008.
